Come away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and follow the intriguing path of early New England settlers along the South Shore of Massachusetts. Back Roads of the South Shore offers historic, hidden treasures in a relaxed and scenic atmosphere.

Route 3A traces the old "Mattachusetts Payth" between Boston and Plymouth, possibly the oldest public highway in the state. Meandering along the trail of Native American feet, Pilgrim carts, and the stagecoaches of the early Republic, this "Old Coast Road" gives you a chance to touch the homes of history. -- Backroads of the South Shore
